Strategy

At Palau, our objective is clear: To become an international leader in the discovery and development of small molecule therapeutics for inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.

Our core business model is to create novel drugs by identifying unmet medical needs, and then develop our compounds through Phase IIa (proof-of-concept) clinical trials. At that point, decisions are made on a case-by-case basis as to whether we keep the development in-house or partner for late-stage development and commercialization.

Based on a unique and high-quality cost-effective structure, we develop "best-in-class" or "first-in-class" drugs that modulate the activity of validated targets with established preclinical or clinical proof-of-concept. Our final objective is to achieve early positive differentiation from our competitor's molecules by addressing their limitations and designing a clear, focused and fast path to commercial success.

In addition to our own in-house efforts, we plan to further expand our pipeline by collaborating with leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Third-party new chemical entities and formulation projects also present an opportunity for growth. As external projects are incorporated into our pipeline, we will assume the managerial responsibility and financial risk associated with their development.

Our primary focus on inflammatory and autoimmune diseases positions us to branch into related fields such as oncology, where there are synergies and commercial opportunities with existing development projects.

Palau’s goal is to expand our product pipeline and bring solutions to market as quickly as possible through a variety of means, including:

  • our optimized discovery and development process
  • collaboration agreements with leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies
  • the licensing in of new chemical entities and formulation projects in preclinical and early-stage clinical phases
